when not being used
as a computer.

Want to add another computer?

Run the Memory Picture computer
at left side of TV.

Comments

Memory pictures were designed
to run continuously
and be used in-between
other activities.

Very few activities
keep the mind occupied.

Idle minds look for stimulation.

Memory Pictures permit
intermittent, non-scheduled use.

EATING AREA BENEFITS

Welcome stimulus for conversation.

Fills gaps in conversation.

Become a dinner table topic.

Stimulate table talk.

Fits into the casual flow of table talk.

Doesn't demand full attention.

Unilateral parent control

Re-educate the family.

Model a learning environment.

Create subject awareness

Limit contentious talk.

TYPICAL PROBLEMS

Usage (Viewing) of family photos
is frequently interrupted
by other duties
and responsibilities.

Need for scheduling results
in infrequent use
and limited benefits.

Result is infrequent use.

Occasional viewing
has a small impact.

Continuous exposures have
massive impact.

Unlike past photo viewing habits
very little extra time is needed.
------------

MEMORY PICS
Comments

It is important to watch
long lost grandparents
uncles, aunts and cousins.

Memory pictures can provide
1000's of enjoyable hours.

You'll be surprised
how often your eyes
will go to the slides
while you are watching tv.

You'll probably find yourself
watching memory pictures
30 to 70 percent of the time
during your favorite tv shows.
-------------------

PARENTAL PROCEDURES

Run the pics 24 hours per day
in the family eating place
or gathering place.

Promote conversation and sharing.

Move all tv's and computers
out of bedrooms
into common family use areas.

Use second and third computers to run
continuous knowledge input during
the school year.
Stop computer game usage.

Too time consuming.

Learn games
or learn curriculum?

Learn violence
or the result of violence?

Use all computers for slide shows
all hours they are not in use
for other computing tasks.

IMPORTANT ADVICE FOR PARENTS
- From Accelerated Schools

Encouraging and rewarding your student
to copy or write is the easiest and quickest way to build skills,
grades and self esteem.

Daily computer usage will help
to get the most out of your student's enrollment
at any school and will improve the performance of your student in:
writing,
reading,
time on task ratios,
typing and overall homework habits.

Students should copy or write four pages of material each day
to be turned in at their school for homework.

Each student should practice touch typing
15 minutes per day
until they consistently score over 40 words per minute.

WAYS THE COMPUTER SHOULD BE USED
To build socially approved skills, build self confidence, and to widen employment and life style opportunities.

Its important that students practice touch typing 15 minutes every day so that they don't learn a slow "hunt and peck" method so well that it is hard to unlearn.

Word Processing of writing homework.
Young students having problems forming characters, staying within the lines and spelling, receive all too much criticism which causes them to avoid writing.
Criticism can teach a child to avoid trying at all.

To improve writing so that this highly approved of behavior is success-ful and predictably rewarded.

To learn the alphabet and suggested spellings of words.

To help a student compete with peers
Anything that helps your student succeed at their job (education, school) is worth while.
